How We Came to Be
In 2006, when many congregations were transitioning to the ACNA a formation Committee to discuss what a women’s prayer order for the Anglican Church of North America would encompass. After many God moments, meetings, and prayers The Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross was instituted on Holy Cross Day in Sept 2009. The first DHC Assembly was held September 12, 2012. Jacque Crosby, our first President of The Order and member of the formation committee has written a journal Gathering the Scattered Sheep that describes all the prayer, hard work, laughter, tears that went into the creation of our Order. Bishop Akerman was instrumental in encouraging the formation of the Order and was the DHC’s first Bishop. View an interview with Bishop Ackerman and his daughter Lynne Shattuck as they discuss our begginings.
